Coaching Resources
These are resources, developed by Hampshire RFU, to aid Club Coaching Coordinators and Club Coaches to enhance the playing experience for all.
Coaching Resources
Creating positive, player-centred environments starts with having the right people in the right roles, supported with the right tools.
Our coaching resources have been developed to help clubs establish clear expectations, support coach development, and build a consistent approach to coaching across every age group and level of the game. These templates are designed to be practical and can be personalised to reflect your club’s structure, culture and needs.
Role Descriptors
Clear roles help everyone understand their responsibilities and contribute effectively to the club environment. We’ve created editable role descriptor templates for key volunteer positions, including:
Club Coaching Coordinator (CCC) TBC
These templates provide a strong starting point for clubs and can be adapted to suit your own programmes, ensuring everyone involved understands their role and how they contribute to delivering a positive rugby experience.
Coaching Matrix
The Coaching Matrix is designed to support Club Coaching Coordinators in tracking and managing their coaching workforce.
It provides a simple way to monitor coach qualifications, CPD activity and compliance with RFU regulations, while helping identify future development opportunities. By keeping coach information in one place, clubs can better support their coaches’ learning journeys and ensure every player, regardless of age or ability, benefits from a safe, enjoyable and high-quality coaching environment.
Coach Observation Sheet
Regular observation and constructive feedback are key to coach development.
Our Coach Observation Sheet has been designed to help Club Coaching Coordinators observe coaching sessions and provide meaningful, supportive feedback. Built around the APES principles, it offers a simple framework for effective coaching conversations, helping coaches reflect on their practice, celebrate strengths and identify areas for development.
The observation process is intended to be supportive rather than evaluative, creating opportunities for continuous improvement and better experiences for players.
