Purpose of Role
To provide leadership across the playing squad and senior and age grade to support coaches with the
coaching of individuals and teams to achieve success on and off the field.

events.
Main Responsibilities
• Squad Development
o Implement processes that will facilitate player and coach Development.
o Set up a process to identify, develop and retain all players through effective
engagement and promoting the club to potential players.
o Ensure a safe playing environment is created, optimizing fitness and conditioning,
preventing and evaluating injuries, and coordinating training and recovery sessions.
• Guide Strategy
o Maintain the club philosophy and standards consistent with the values of the game.
o Work with the Youth Head Coach to develop a pathway plan for youth players to
progress to the senior squad.
o Support discussions on the club’s playing facilities, equipment and materials to
ensure they meet the needs of the players.
• Reporting
o Report to the executive committee on rugby matters and make recommendations on
improvements/investments
o Track and report on squad depth, succession planning and changes in the active
player base.
Skills & Qualities Needed
• A strong team ethic, and personal discipline,
• Ability to motivate and empower others to deliver.
• Hard-working and well-organised and can communicate clearly with players, support staff,
and management
• Excellent communications skills, both written and oral
• Good organisational and time management skills
• IT skills necessary to work with GMS, analytics and other club tools
• Proven rugby coaching ability with knowledge of current coaching and training processes
Support Provided
• Ongoing support from the Club Committee, Coaching Team, and Volunteer Coordinator.
• Access to RFU resources and training as needed
