Completing a Judgment Form
Where an Age Grade Player is subject to a disciplinary hearing, the outcome must be formally recorded using the RFU Age Grade Judgment Form.
The form provides a record of the case, the decision reached and any sanction or other action that has been imposed. This helps ensure that Age Grade discipline is dealt with consistently, proportionately and in accordance with RFU Regulation 19 and the Age Grade Rugby Disciplinary Procedures.
Who should complete the form?
The form should be completed by the person or panel responsible for hearing the disciplinary case within the club, school, college or other appropriate body.
It records information including:
- details of the player and incident;
- the offence being considered and whether it was admitted;
- details of the disciplinary hearing;
- the decision and reasons for it;
- any playing suspension or alternative sanction imposed; and
- the player’s agreed return-to-play date.
Age Grade disciplinary procedures are intended to be child-centred, fair and proportionate, recognising the player’s age, experience and the importance of helping young players learn from incidents rather than simply punishing them.
What happens after the hearing?
Once the hearing has taken place, the completed Judgment Form must be submitted to the Hampshire RFU Age Grade Discipline Secretary – email here.
For club or school-led cases, the outcome must be reported promptly following the hearing.
A player should not return to play until the completed judgment has been submitted and the sanction/outcome has been approved by the appropriate Age Grade Discipline Secretary.
Any suspension applies across rugby and therefore consideration should be given to all teams for which the player plays, including club, school, college and representative rugby.
