Hampshire RFU has today launched a Facilities & Funding video designed to empower community rugby clubs across the county to become truly investment ready — setting a new standard in support, guidance, and strategic planning for facility improvement and long-term sustainability.

The short 20 minutes (or less at x2 speed!) video, now available below and on the Facilities & Funding page, walks club leaders through the essential steps and key considerations for developing compelling investment-ready proposals. It reflects Hampshire RFU’s ongoing commitment to helping clubs enhance their grounds, clubhouses and infrastructure, and secure the funding and partnerships necessary to underpin sustainable growth.

Supporting Clubs Through Practical Insight and Expertise

The video brings together Hampshire RFU’s Club Investment Director, George Winch, and Tommy Gentleman, Hampshire RFU’s Facilities Lead, alongside Kieran Spencer, RFU Facilities Development Executive, in an attempt to provide a one stop shop of information for clubs. In working collaboratively, Hampshire RFU continues to work to reduce the burden on our dedicated volunteers as this approach allows clubs to watch in in their own time, share and re-watch as they need!

Aligned with Strategic Goals and RFU Support

The launch dovetails with Hampshire RFU’s wider mission, outlined in its Strategy 2025–2028, to enhance the playing experience, unlock investment and better support our volunteers. Supporting clubs to become investment ready is a core part of this mission, and the video is designed to give clubs of all sizes greater confidence when seeking grants, sponsorship or commercial partnerships.

The initiative also has the backing of the Rugby Football Union (RFU), ensuring that clubs can align their facility planning with national frameworks and funding opportunities. RFU support remains integral, particularly through facility development guidance and grant resources that clubs can access via the RFU Club Support Hub.

Club Investment Leadership Driving Change

George Winch, Hampshire RFU’s Director of Club Investment, underscored the strategic value of the video:
“Our aim is to build capability and knowledge within clubs so they can confidently articulate their ambitions and deliver facility enhancements that benefit their members and local community.”

Clubs and volunteers can view the video and access supporting resources on the Facilities & Funding page.
