Behind every rugby club is a team of dedicated volunteers working to a make things happen for the benefit of all members attached to your club.
You don’t have to have been a player to get involved, just someone who feels they will enjoy the camaraderie of being more closely connected with the rugby community.

Applications Now Open: RFU Inspire Leadership Programme for Women in Rugby

Are you a woman aged 20–25, passionate about rugby, currently volunteering in a leadership role in rugby or wanting to step into one? The RFU Inspire Leadership Programme is designed to help you develop your strengths, build resilience, and gain the confidence to lead and make a real difference in the game.
What is Inspire?
Inspire is a unique programme for young women to:
- Develop leadership skills and confidence
- Build resilience for future challenges
- Connect with other aspiring female leaders in rugby
- Hear from inspiring female leaders in the sport
Programme Highlights:
- Welcome Session (Online): 17th November, 7–8pm
- Leadership Day (In Person): 29th November, 11am–4pm, Holiday Inn, Birmingham City Centre
- eLearning: Understanding the Rugby Landscape (complete by 11th January)
- Virtual Workshops & Webinars: Covering topics like resilience, leadership journeys, and next steps, with sessions from the RFU National Youth Council and guest speakers
Who should apply?
- Women aged 20–25 (or turning 20 before 30th April 2026)
- Those volunteering or aspiring to lead in rugby (e.g., team managers, committee roles, coaches, social media leads)
- Women from clubs, universities, Constituent Bodies, and referee societies
- Anyone passionate about increasing female leadership in rugby
Key Dates:
- Applications close: 12th October 2025, 11:59pm
- Applicants informed: By 27th October
- Programme runs: November 2025 – May 2026
Support:
- RFU-funded accommodation for those living over 120 miles from the in-person event
- Travel expenses for those over 100 miles away
- Ongoing opportunities for further leadership development after the programme
